Tonopah

A down-on-his-luck cowboy thumbing a ride on a busy highway. A pair of misfits finding love in a desert canyon. A long-dead vaquero dancing in ghostly moonlight. With these and other songs, Dave Stamey illuminates the rich tapestry that is the modern West.

Most of the western music I hear latey has the same, "Nashville Pop", sound to it. DAVE STAMEY is an original, like a breath of fresh air. I've been a working cowboy for 58 years and these songs paint a picture of the life I recognize and live, everyday. The most talented writing, acoustic guitar and soleful music this cowboy has heard in a long time. I've played the the living daylights out of this CD and don't ever tire of any of the cuts. Tonapah cuts right to my soul. Everyone I've played it for loves it as well. Eddie Carter, Mule Shoe Ranch, AZ, says keep playing Dave!! A Working Cowboy's Favorite Music, July 1, 2001 Reviewer: A music fan from Mule Shoe Ranch, AZ United States

Campfire Waltz

"In 1995, I went into the studio, just yours truly and a guitar, and recorded a little cassette album we called Campfire Waltz. Never intended for wide distribution, somehow it became a fairly popular item, and people began asking as if was ever coming out on CD. The problem was, there were things on the original recording - glitches, creaks and other flaws all relating to the performance - that I did not care to have out there, if I could help it. The best thing, we decided, would be to start from scratch and re-record the entire album. This we have done, with some minor changes and a few substitutions.

The whole thing started around a campfire nearly a decade ago, when friends would gather after a long day's ride to listen to music, with a million starts overhead and the air full of good smells of coffee, horses and leather. It was then, and is now, a waltz of kindred souls." Dave Stamey

         Bio & Reviews
Jean Prescott

Dave Stamey, "the Cowboy," has been bucked off and stomped on by horses, stepped on by mules and dragged around branding pens by angry cattle. He's ridden in the rain and snow, in nasty heat and feedlot pens where the air was thick and decidedly fragrant.

Dave Stamey, "the Entertainer," has been named "Male Performer of the Year" by the Western Music Association and "Male Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists.

He is a three-time nominee for "Songwriter of the Year" and is rapidly becoming one of the most popular Western entertainers working today. Dave lives in Nipomo California with his wife and partner Melissa, several horses, cats and dogs.
